REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Pre-registration is required. No students will be admitted to class without having completed and submitted to the ISC office a registration form for each class the student wishes to attend, accompanied by class fees in full.
PURCHASE TEXTBOOK BEFORE THE SECOND CLASS SESSION
New, unmarked current textbooks can be returned during the textbook purchase period only. This policy applies even if the class is canceled. Textbook returns must be sent to the attention of ISCs Accounting Department. A signed letter must accompany the order indicating textbooks returned, along with a daytime telephone number. A photocopy of the school receipt should also be attached to the letter.
CANCELLED CLASSES
ISC reserves the right to cancel a section if there is not sufficient registration to meet minimum class requirements. In that event, students will be notified and tuition will be refunded in full.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY- "W" GRADE
A student who wishes to withdraw from an ISC class must submit a written withdrawal request to the ISC office. A telephone call is not an official notification of withdrawal. Students may withdraw only until the fourth week of class. Withdrawal requests received after the fourth week of class will not be processed. A student who does not withdraw officially from a class is subject to an "F" grade. It is the responsibility of the student to take necessary action to withdraw from a class. Students who withdraw from a class will only receive a refund if they withdraw before the first class session. IMPORTANT: Read Refund Policy!
REFUND POLICY
No refunds will be given after the course begins. Tuition refunds before the first class will be reduced by a $25.00 service charge. No refunds without receipt.
CLASS CONFIRMATION
Confirmation will be mailed to you. Report to the class you have registered for on the first day. If your class is cancelled, you will be notified by the ISC Administrative Office.
GRADING SYSTEM
The grading system at ISC is: A (Excellent), B (Above Average), C (Average), D (Below Average), F (Failing) ,W (Withdraw), U or UX (Audit), and NA (Non-Attendance).
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students are encouraged to attend class on a regular basis. However, circumstances (such as business travel) may arise which make it difficult for students to be at each class meeting. At the instructor's discretion, a student may be issued a grade of "NA" indicating consistent absence from a class resulting in a lack of grading criteria. If frequent absences are anticipated, ISC strongly encourages the student to consider auditing the class. When absences do occur, it is not necessary for the student to call ISC. The student should, however, contact her/his instructor for any instructions regarding make-up work, etc.
AUDITING A CLASS
Students wishing to audit a class must submit a written request to the ISC Office. A telephone call is not official notification of intent to audit. Students may change their status only until the fourth week of class. Audit requests received after the fourth week of class will not be processed. Students who do not audit a class will receive the letter grade (A, B, C, D, F or NA) they earned based on class performance. Full tuition fees still apply. It is the responsibility of the student to take the necessary actions for auditing a class.
ISCS COMMITMENT TO YOU!
Any ISC student who has an attendance record of 80% or better in an ISC class, obtains a class grade of C or higher, sits for the National Exam, and does not pass the exam is entitled to audit the same ISC class free of charge within three years after the class was initially taken.
A copy of the Institute Exam Report must accompany the student registration form. This policy is subject to school approval and availability of space in classes. This policy does not include textbooks. If, after auditing the class a second time, the student again fails the National Exam, the student is entitled to audit the class again, provided the student attended at least 80% of the audited classes.
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY
The Insurance School of Chicago admits students of any sex, race, color, or national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to its students. The School also operates on an equal-opportunity basis in selecting and assigning course leaders and seminar speakers.
